The Reality of AI
Let’s talk about the reality of AI.
I’m dyslexic, which means my thoughts often come quickly, scattered, and big-picture. I’m listening, absorbing and processing. I can easily break long-term goals into actionable steps, but when it’s time to communicate these ideas on paper, things can get messy. 🫤
When I don’t have my personal dyslexia editor, Julien McNab, that’s where tools like ChatGPT, Gemini Google, or Claude OpenAI come in. They help me organize my thoughts, simplify complex ideas, and get to the point—especially when writing for busy people who scan rather than read.
AI has become my go-to assistant for clarity and efficiency, and it’s a game-changer for turning messy thoughts into actionable communication.
AI can help us ideate faster, organize content efficiently, and spark new ideas. It can be a powerful partner in expanding thoughts or tackling tasks that require processing massive amounts of data.
But here’s the catch: AI can’t operate effectively without thoughtful human interaction. It doesn’t “know” anything on its own. It learns based on how we guide it. Training it to speak like us and use a similar tone takes training. This is similar to how you train your staff. The more time you spend upfront teaching them the way you would like a job done, the better job they can do. Don’t assume it will know or is going to give you the detail you need if you don’t ask for it.
The more we correct its mistakes, refine its outputs, and push it to align with our needs, the better it gets. That requires people—creative, critical, and adaptive people.
We shouldn’t fear AI or see it as a threat. Instead, we should jump in and start experimenting with how we communicate with it. LLMs are tools, not replacements, and the more we embrace that mindset, the more value we can extract from them.
Next up: Now that the missing and some values have been discussed should we even call it “Artificial Intelligence”? Branding our new helper should be a fun challenge.
