“AI is not artificial, nor is it intelligent.”

“AI is not artificial, nor is it intelligent.” – Roy Vella

I had an incredible “Industry Chat” a couple of weeks ago with Roy C. Vella, who shared a perspective that inspired me to rethink how we understand and interact with AI. If we’re going to harness its potential, we need to start by reframing what AI truly is and isn’t.

Here’s the key takeaway: Large Language Models (LLMs) don’t actually “think.” They learn from the input you provide. If you query them with average instructions, you’ll get average results. But if you tell them to respond like a specialist, suddenly the results are more refined, more useful.

AI is essentially a massive scanner and organizer of content, capable of saving us time and helping us ideate. But it’s only as good as how we interact with it. This isn’t about replacing human minds—it’s about collaboration. Understanding how to work with AI can amplify creativity, organization, and problem-solving. The better we are at interacting with it, the more it can help us.

So, what if we gave AI a “brand refresh”? Not as a substitute for intelligence but as a tool for human amplification.
