Ne M’Efface Pas!!
"NE M'EFFACE PAS!!"
Oceans apart, this street art in Paris resonates with me when thinking about the job search in NYC.
Application after application. Decades of experience and skills. Proven record of success with Photography, Design, Branding projects. Positive review after positive review of what it's like to work with me. All while raising and successfully advocating for 3 kids with 504s and IEPs in a complex NYC education system. Never pausing.
Rejection after rejection. Not even a conversation. Has LinkedIn broken the job search process? ATS scanning resumes isn't human. Are companies only looking for youth and AI robots? Do they want to hire grownups, experience, mentors, self-motivated and capable multi-taskers? Have corporate companies stopped valuing experience and the bold creativity that often comes with it, which moves innovation forward? Who's training HR teams? Who's making sure they have the information they need to assess resumes? Where is the leadership? What's their mandate?
I'll do what I have always done. Keep creating. Keep learning. Keep showing up for my family.
I think I speak for many of us who are actively looking for work right now. "Don't Erase Me!!"
