Early Days Of Personal Branding
I'm taking a trip down memory lane.
This is my first logo. I didn't design it. The now well-known toy designer and mural artist, Tristian Eaton did.
These were our early days in NYC. Both of us trying to find work. We hung out with artists, Scott Chester https://lnkd.in/evz7ZXjF and Ashman Walcott in an artist studio building near the Brooklyn Bridge ... before it was cleaned up.
I was looking for freelance work and invested $1k for Tristan to design me a logo. My initials then were PK. Even at 24-years-old I understood the power of a personal brand and needed to invest in me before someone else would. My creative medium at the time was photography and multimedia. It wasn't until years later that I retaught myself Illustrator (having learned it in school) and started creating my own logos. Hanging with these guys taught me from an early age the power of networking and supporting each other professionally. I was never sorry or regretted figuring out how to come up with the money to pay Tristan, even though at the time it far exceeded what I could afford.
When he handed me the final files he told me he was just signed with B&A reps and was working on a toy design. Look him up to see which one it is. https://lnkd.in/eMXqE7bH
