Where I Started…7 years into my career
Meeting deadlines is an integral part of my creative process. I prioritize and budget my time to ensure that I can meet client expectations without compromising on the creative process. This approach allows me to deliver high-quality work within the given timeline, while also fostering positive working relationships with my clients.
iPad: When it comes to sketching and fleshing out ideas, my go-to tool is Procreate on the iPad. Particularly for logos and custom graphics, I find that starting in Procreate allows me to quickly work through my initial concepts before transferring my designs to other software like Illustrator, Photoshop, or Animate. By using Procreate, I can efficiently create high-quality comps to share with clients, thus increasing our collaboration efforts. I do however still carry a small notebook and pencil with me for ideas on the go.
Content: Content should always take precedence in visuals. While having a working knowledge of various software and tools is valuable, it's important not to get bogged down in trying to master every program out there. The reality is that software is constantly evolving and improving, and successful design often requires the use of multiple tools.
Ultimately, what matters most is the quality of the ideas being executed. A great idea, executed well, will capture attention and resonate with the intended audience, regardless of the specific tools or software used to create it.
What Software, When: You can’t know all the software out there. There are too many. It’s about know when to use what software to get the job done at the highest level needed and efficiently. Sometimes that doesn’t mean using the latest tools out there. Recently, I have been exploring new tools for layout design, such as Canva, before refining my ideas in InDesign or Illustrator for print projects. Over the years of working closely with clients, I've also started incorporating my experience with UI/UX design into collaborative software like Figma. I find that Figma is particularly useful for making UX flow decisions, while I still rely on Procreate, Cava, InDesign or Illustrator for UI design.
With each new project, I strive to learn something new and incorporate better practices for improved speed and quality moving forward.
A Lot of Skills: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Animate, Premiere, Acrobat, Procreate, SquareSpace, Wix, Wordpress, CapCut, Figma, Canva, Asana, among many others. I’m tech literate and skilled at picking up software quickly. If I don’t know a software and need it to work more efficiently I will learn it. It is impossible to know and be great at all the software out there now and so many are similar. If I know one I can easily pivot when needed.

My skills and passion service others well as I can make your visual challenges into fun exciting logos that introduce you or your company’s story. Emotionally connecting people to you through your story will help your logo turn into a brand others want to be associated.
My ultimate goal is to create visuals that not only elevate but also effectively convey a client's vision and unique voice. I believe in the power of simplicity and strive to communicate feelings and emotions without ever having to say a word. I want to show your story and teach you how to share it. Feel free to connect with me.
Process
Research: To gather ideas, I take a multifaceted approach that involves scouring the internet, capturing photographs of the world around me, and observing colors, lines, shapes, signs, textures, and everyday moments. I don’t always do a formal mood board but do find them helpful when collaborating. Through years of practice, I've learned to slow down and set aside sufficient time to fully process my ideas, experiences, and surroundings. This settling of ideas not only enables me to contribute more effectively to collaborative team environments but also adds depth to brainstorming sessions.
I started a company with a former Getty Images colleague after we both left the big photo agency world. We had planned to continue helping photographers who where looking for traditional photo editor collaborations without the big agency complications.
Quickly, lives got busy and she wasn’t able to divide her time, but I kept the company going, to include not just photo editing but website design and small business consulting. I worked with clients on not just their visuals but how to position themselves marketing wise to grow their own businesses. This all evolved into where we are today with Teal Studio, as brand identity designers and day-to-day business operations and workflows consultants to make managing a companies visual files while making the most out of them in their marketing efforts.
